My name is Christine Marquette and I'm a registereddietitian with the Austin Regional Clinicand I'm going to talk to you about how tokeep fit. There are a lot of ways to keepfit. The important thing is that you findan activity that you enjoy doing and thatyou stick with it. There's a variety of thingsyou can do. You can run, walk, swim, bike,go hiking, do yoga, lots of different methodsfor keeping fit. You can go dancing, dancingis a very good aerobic activity, very physicalactivity, burns a lot of calories and itsa very enjoyable way for a lot of people tokeep fit. The other thing that's importantis making sure that you follow a healthy diet.
You want to make sure that you have enoughenergy to do these activities that you actuallyenjoy doing to keep your body fit. So followinga healthy diet means making sure that youeat when you're hungry, you stop eating whenyou're full, you include plenty of differenttypes of fruits and vegetables, whole grains,things like brown rice, oatmeal, millet, allthose types of things are considered wholegrains. You also want to include some typeof lean protein whether that's from legumes,beans such as pinto beans, garbanzos, or seafoodor lean cuts of meat or poultry without theskin. Any of those are sources of lean proteinsthat are very beneficial for your body. Andagain, that particular method of eating willmake sure that you have the energy that youneed to actually perform these different typesof activities that you enjoy doing. So aslong as you find an activity that you like,make sure that you try to do it several timesa week at least 4 to 5 times a week will reallyhelp improve your level of fitness. More thanthat can actually cause you to lose weightif you're trying to actually lose weight.
